I’ve got 60 pages of scanned lecture notes and keep seeing IronPDF mentioned, but I’m wary of running them through something I don’t understand. Is it safe for personal study PDFs?

To be fair, IronPDF is safe since it runs locally on your computer, but it’s actually a coding tool for software devlopers. What are you trying to do with the scans? If you just need to merge or view them, it’s massive overkill.

Yeah it’s annoying when you can’t tell what a library actually does with your files. IronPDF is a developer tool, not something you install and click a button, so for scanned lecture notes it’s probably overkill anyway. I’d just keep a backup of the originals and try something simpler like your OS’s built in preview app if you just need to view or organize pages.

@clumsy_goblin Spot on, it’s definitely dev software. I learned the hard way not to touch developer libraries when I just need clean client PDFs. Now I just use Acrobat or standard preview tools to combine scans without any hassle.

tbh I have no idea about IronPDF, I just use the built in tools on my tablet for school forms and never send scans anywhere. Learned that the hard way once. What device are you working on?

When I looked into that for our payroll scans, IT told me it is actually a coding tool for programmers, not a regular app you just open. It is safe, but it is way too complicated for normal study notes. I usually just view and read my scanned pages right in a regular web browser like Edge.

@samantha_87 same here, at the clinic we open insurance scans straight in edge and it works fine for just reading. i always keep the untouched originals in a separate folder too, in case i mess with a copy and need to start over. never seen a reason to install anything extra for that.
