A client sent me a read-only PDF and I need to change a few dates before Friday. On my work laptop I can only view it. How do I make this PDF editable?

Honestly the easiest trick is just opening the PDF directly in Microsoft Word. It usually converts it into an editable doc so you can change the dates, then you can just save it back as a PDF.

A read-only PDF usually has editing permissions or is just a scanned document. Check File \> Properties \> Security; if editing is restricted, ask the client for an editable copy or corrected PDF rather than bypassing it. If you are authorized and it is a scan, OCR in Acrobat or LibreOffice Draw can make the text editable, but check the dates and layout carefully afterward.
