I need to change the permissions on a PDF I created so it can be edited, but I’m doing everything on my phone. Is there a way to update those settings without a computer?

Honestly, dedicated phone apps are pretty limited for that. The simplest thing is to just open Sejda or ilovepdf in your mobile browser and update the permissions there. Works every time for me when Im stuck doing contracts on my phone.

I agree with @clumsy_goblin on using a browser tool. I do that now whenever a client needs form permissions unlocked on the fly, because mobile apps always messed up my invoice layouts. Learned that the hard way.

I had this happen with a payroll report on my phone last month. If you still have the original file in Google Docs or Word, it is easiest to change it there and save a fresh copy. Phones usually cannot edit the security settings of an existing PDF directly without a computer.

Yeah this is annoying on a phone, especially with contracts since permission settings aren’t always obvious in mobile apps. First make a copy of the original before touching anything, just in case. If the PDF was password protected by you originally, check whatever app made it since some let you reopen and change security settings right from the share or export menu. If it’s locked by someone else’s tool, you may just be stuck until you’re on a computer.
