I received a form as a PDF and need to fix a couple of typos, but I can’t click into the text at all. Do I need special software, or is there a simple way to edit it?

Honestly, the simplest thing is to right click and open it in Word. It converts it to editable text most of the time. If it was scanned as an image though, you’ll need an editor like Sejda to change it.
